Grade 1 offers a play-based lessons with crafts, games, and other hands-on activities that introduce and reinforce the topic of the day. Our values-based curriculum allows students to discover life lessons based on ancient Jewish history. Some topics include: gemilut chassadim (loving kindness, doing good deeds), giving tzedakah (charity, giving to those less fortunate), bikur cholim (visiting the sick, having respect for our elderly), and doing teshvah (asking for forgiveness).
We encourage positive character traits as exemplified by Jewish historical and biblical figures. These are presented as heroes to emphasize their function as role models and to inspire Jewish pride.
All major Jewish holidays are covered as they occur in the calendar.
